OZmap is a software for documenting FTTX networks. To help you organize your network and optimize your time and resources.

In order for you to learn about the features available in OZmap, we have created this guide on each of the available tools.

For each area, we have links to complete and specific articles, developing each of the topics in more depth.

Projects

Your first step within the software will be to create a project.

A project represents the markings made for a network, containing posts, boxes, cables, clients, pops, etc. Normally these are divided into cities, but depending on the size of the city, it could be a region with several small cities or a neighborhood of a very large city.

See our articles on Projects:

Backups

We decided to address this issue right after projects, because it is very important. You should familiarize yourself with backups and get in the habit of creating some, especially if you are going to make any major changes.

Find out all about in this article about Backups.

Elements inside the project

As you may have seen in the article "Creating your first Project", there is a video showing the first insertion of POP, CE, CTO, cables, clients and lighting to see the client's path to the CTO.

To access the marking elements, simply click on the first icon with the "plus" ("+") symbol, as shown in the image:

You can find below the menu with the options:

Following the image, each number represents the name of one element:

  1. Poles
  2. Multiple poles
  3. Boxes
  4. Multiple Boxes
  5. Cables
  6. Clients
  7. Prospects
  8. Vertical buildings
  9. Horizontal Condominums
  10. POPs

Each of these elements has special settings and will fill your map. We recommend you know better about these elements to draw your network in a better way from the beginning.

Network tools

To access the network tools, click on the second button in the map menu, as shown in the image below:

When you click the button, the tools will appear as shown in the following image:

Each of these tools serves a purpose for network analysis. We’ve created complete articles for each one in the links below:

  1. Metrics
  2. Line Distance
  3. Locate
  4. Generate an area

Map tools

They can be found on the third icon, as in the image below:

Options include:

  1. Adjust Adjacencies
  2. Show Links
  3. Heatmap
  4. Show Box Names
  5. Show POP Names
  6. Show Vertical Condominium Names
  7. Highlight Clients with Issues
  8. Show Client Groupings
  9. Show Property Groupings
  10. Show Vertical Condominium Groupings
  11. Show POP Groupings
  12. Show Tower Groupings

As you zoom out on the map, the elements start grouping together, displaying a number that corresponds to the quantity of nearby elements. This grouping helps visualize areas with high point density more clearly and efficiently.

Data import

You can import data from other software, such as KML files from Google Earth, into OZmap. If you have this information recorded elsewhere and want to migrate it to OZmap, the process is straightforward.

Learn more in our article about Data Import.

Ilumination

With the lighting feature, you can highlight network paths and clearly visualize the routes between cables, boxes, clients, the central office, and the PON port. This feature helps you see how elements are connected.

Learn more in our article about Lighting.

Pendencies

Pending tasks are a feature that allows you to create and assign tasks to system users to be resolved, allowing you to work with them from within OZmob. The button below allows you to add new pending tasks to the map.

Network diagnostics

The network diagnostics feature allows the user to check the status of their network's communication with the server, to find out if it is experiencing any instability. It can be accessed by clicking on the button below:

Type of elements

OZmap elements can be classified into types, which are the different models that exist for those objects. When we say model, we mean the physical model used on the streets by your network.

All element type editions can be accessed through the menu on the left of OZmap. Check out more details by clicking here

Map of problems

The "Problems" tab is a feature that allows you to view how many and which customers have error status, making it easier to group information about these customers.

Learn how to use this tool in article about Customers with Problems.

OTDR

When a fiber breaks, the OTDR is used to measure the distance at which the fiber broke. If you input this information into OZmap, it will give you the exact location of where the fiber was damaged.

Check this out article about OTDR.

Users

You can create users and define the type of access, modules and projects. You can also configure roles to categorize the user's function and which resources they can view.

Check this out article about users

Background tasks

This is where you can track the progress of completing activities that are being done in the background.

Personalization

The "Customization" tab is a feature that allows you to create new fiber profiles, box templates, tags, and colors to customize your project the way you want.

Audit

In the audit, it is possible to view the actions performed in the system, such as login, creation, update and deletion of elements, the user who performed the actions, the element that was edited, date and data of this change.

Administrative

The administrative panel allows you to view the details of the contracted plan, such as limits, amount of use, additional services and information such as the type of plan, system URL and default situation.

Settings of the system

Here you can define details of the image upload and export, such as Sketch and box image. Also the radius of the search for OZloc posts.

See all the details in this System Settings article.

API

We have a very dynamic API to interact with other systems.

See more in this article about the OZmap API.
