Regions is a feature in OZmap that allows you to divide your map into multiple polygons, which represent different areas. These regions will appear in all projects and you can filter them to show only those that are within the currently accessed project area.

By default, OZmap has 4 types of regions created:

  • Standard: default region type

  • Coverage: coverage area by area viability

  • Commercial - Areas of commercial action

  • Maintenance: areas served by field maintenance teams

However, it is possible to add new region types as needed. The only type that cannot be deleted will be the "Standard" type. For more information on region types, click here.

Creating a region

To create a region, you'll first need to select all of its space in an area report (to learn how to generate an area, click here).  Within your report, at the “General” tab, click “Save Region.”

A new tab will be opened, asking you to set your region. At it you can choose a name, a type, and a color for that region. If you want it to use the color of the type, just select the option. You can also add tags and insert the comments, as shown in the image below.

To customize the color and opacity of the region, you must click at the colored square. Both "Color" and "Border Color" can be edited by your preference.

The already created regions can be seen in the layers menu, on the right side.

Region Search

Despite this, you can also search for a specific region using the search tool. For more information on how to search in OZmap, click here.

Another way to find a region is through a point or element. When you right-click on the map, a menu will appear with different options and, under "Coordinates", you can find the option "Check point regions".

Clicking it, a window containing the list of regions covering that point will appear.

The same operation can also be done with a map element by simply right-clicking on it and selecting the “Check element regions” option.

Tools

You can notice that on the right side of each region line, some icons represent the tools that are available in the system for you to work with these regions.

  1. The first tool, which has an eye icon, allows you to show and hide your map region.

  2. In the following icon, the  “i”, you can generate an area report for the entire space that covers your region.

  3. The track tool, represented by the guide, will take you directly to where the region is located.

  4. Next to it is the clone icon, it will create an identical copy of the region.

  5. In the editing tool, you can change your region settings, including the area. Changes in the region will not move the elements that are within it.

  6. Finally, the tool represented by a trashcan can allow permanent removal of the region. It is noteworthy that only the polygon is going to be removed from the region, not its internal elements.

Filter regions

Filters can be applied based on the region type, your tags, and your project. Select them in their respective fields and click the “Apply” button. You can select more than one option in each field.

To view regions of all types, all tags, or all projects, click the checkboxes just below the "Projects" field.

And to remove the filters you must select the “Clear” option.

Batch Modifications

When generating an area report, you can access the "Regions" tab, where you can perform batch actions with all the regions covered by the area outlined in the report. In this case, it is possible to export the regions in XLS or CSV or change some characteristics such as type, color, and add or remove labels.

Import regions

Like other elements, regions can also be imported into OZmap via a CSV file.
