In OZmap, you can set limits to the area a project can cover. This feature allows you to define a specific project area where the project’s elements will be located.

This same area will filter all elements from other projects that pass through it, such as cables from a main project or poles.

This way, you don’t need to see the entire path your backbone takes on the map or all the poles available in your network. Instead, you can focus on a single area, which improves how your project interacts with the system.

By default, when a project is created, the system assigns a predefined area around the starting point selected during creation.

You can edit this area later by clicking on this symbol:

A window will open asking whether you want this area to be modified manually, adjusted automatically, or created from a region.

If you want to adjust it manually, arrange the area to the scale you prefer:

To generate an area automatically, you must have at least three elements in your project. The system will then adapte the area based on these elements, as shown in the image below.

With the option to generate from a region, a list of all regions will appear on the screen, and your project area will be shaped according to the region you select.

After modifying the area manually or automatically and saving, your project will appear like this:

The area outside the demarcated region will appear in gray, representing the boundary of your Project Area.

If a project has a bound, the areas of other subprojects under that parent will also appear darker on the map (if the user has access to those projects). This allows you to see each project’s area and access it quickly. To enable project areas, simply select Project Areas in the layer menu.

In the main project, you will be able to see the areas of all the subprojects.

You can access any of these projects by right-clicking on its area and selecting the option with the project’s name, or by clicking anywhere on the map and choosing the “Open a Project” option. After selecting a project, OZmap will redirect you to the chosen project.

Project Areas are also used to define how many elements from the main project, such as poles, you want to see in the subproject.

This way, you don’t need to load the entire backbone, for example, or see all the poles in the city when your project focuses on a specific neighborhood.

The image below illustrates the usefulness of the tool: on the left is the map view from the main project, and on the right from the subproject.
